Darwin Information Typing Architecture (“DITA”)
Darwin Information Typing Architecture (“DITA”) is a data format for publishing and the creation of hypertext and multimedia applications (or “authoring”). DITA content is comprised of short blurbs on specific topics, rather than long chapters and applications include aircraft maintenance manuals, parts catalogs, wiring diagrams and any content that is highly modular.
A DITA map has links to various topics, structured in a sequence or hierarchy. A DITA map is essentially a kind of table of contents, and relationship tables in DITA maps can specify which topics link to other topics. Modular topics can be recycled for multiple purposes.
FormatConversion.biz can convert your existing documents (Word, PDF, DocBook, etc.) into DITA format using both manual and software-assisted techniques.
